She snatched one of the sticks from the dying fire and tore into the white meat. It was dried from cooking over a fire, but it was something for the time being.

Izhild watched as Cois fell to the ground. She shut her eyes tight, wondering why Friedrich had to bring them to this time. She wanted to go back now. Everything was getting from bad to worse and Izhild couldn't do anything about it.
She opened her eyes again, still peering from under the bush she hid in.
I need to stay focused. I have to follow them and find out where those two are going to be taken. Patiently, Izhild waited until the soldiers would leave before emerging from her hiding place.
